Horticap is a small garden centre and nursery for adults with learning difficulties. This blog shows art work created by students who take part in a weekly workshop run by Carol Sowden. The students are encouraged to express themselves within this creative environment, building on their individual talents and visual/verbal communication.

Making & drawing with charcoal
The students have been working with Johnathan Pound who is a Woodland Craft expert. Here you can see them making charcoal and drawing with the charcoal material they produced.
Sunflowers
Students Hannah & Carl were asked to interpret this painting of a sunflower by silk painting onto silk scarves. All the silk scarves produced are available to buy in the Horticap shop.

Student Vicky tied string around this silk scarf and painted the indentations she produced a beautiful pattern.

Catch up with the students!
Paula loves to knit she can knit for England!
Patricia has finished her tapestry. She has worked really hard on this work which has been produced using Bettys @ Taylors coffee been sacks.(Which we sell in our shop) Her work is beautiful well done Pat!
Carl is one of our talented drawers. His work is always highly creative and individual.

There's some concentration going on today!
The students have worked really hard today they have been concentrating hard on their art work;
Jamie has been making these silk phone & glasses cases.
Timothy has been sorting out the mosaic tiles that were grouted the other day.
Paul has been designing & painting his first ever silk painted scarf.
Mark has drawn a picture based on images of plans up on the wall of the classroom. They are for the development of our sales area and Tea Room.
